Job Description

ProducePay has created the first ever online financing and marketplace for fresh perishable produce. ESG amp; Sustainability are integral to the mission of ProducePay. As the Director of ESG, you will play a critical role in the overall success and effectiveness of ProducePay’s Corporate ESG amp; Sustainability Vision. This individual will manage, improve and administer ProducePay’s Environmental amp; Social Management System, and work cross-functionally across the business to ensure its success.

You should have experience with Corporate Sustainability, Sustainable Finance, Environmental and Social risk assessments, and IFC Performance Standards. Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and a detailed understanding of the main process for sustainable agriculture, experience monitoring KPIs on sustainability (e.g., balanced scorecards), and a strong ability to influence and introduce innovative ideas to the company.


Responsibilities

  • Execute our ESG Strategy via regular interaction and collaboration across our business, with customers, and by engaging external stakeholders (investors, consultants, partners, etc.)
  • Update, implement, and manage the Environment and Social Management System to identify, manage and mitigate Environmental and Social risks and enhance ProducePay's ESG-minded culture
  • Develop operational procedures and internal controls to measure the social amp; environmental impact of ProducePay’s Sustainability Program, including managing the environmental and social due diligence of our customers and clients, as well as develop environmental action plans to mitigate risk
  • Integrate Sustainability initiatives with ProducePay's existing and new products and programs to ensure that new procedures take advantage of existing systems and resources
  • Partner with other cross-functional teams (Risk, legal, sales, product) to ensure our approach to ESG is embedded in our day-to-day operations and go to market strategy

Requirements

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in business, environmental engineering, sustainability or related discipline
  • 10+ years experience in corporate sustainability, sustainable finance, ESG consulting, or climate change strategies
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations, international practices, and frameworks for action on climate change
  • Experience working within or partnering with multinational Development Finance Institutions (e.g., IFC, World Bank, IADB) NGOs, non-profits, and/or national development agencies (e.g, USAID, DFID, GIZ) delivering environmental and sustainability programs
  • Experience with certifications such as Primus, Global GAP, Rainforest Alliance, USDA, or Fairtrade is required
  • Experience with agriculture and agriculture related businesses
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Travel within Mexico and US as needed
  • Demonstrated ability to manage corporate programs and processes
  • Ability to monitor KPIs and report on sustainability issues
  • People management skills
