About your role

To drive the creation of intuitive and meaningful user experiences in our products by leading and executing comprehensive user research programs. This will involve understanding the financial needs, behaviors, and desires of our users, and translating these insights into actionable recommendations to inform product design and development. The aim is to ensure our solutions not only meet the functional requirements of our users but also provide a satisfying and engaging user experience, ultimately leading to product growth and user retention.

Outcomes

  1. Develop User Understanding: Build comprehensive user personas and journey maps to understand the motivations, behaviors, and needs of the target audience. This is crucial to inform the design and development teams about the users they are designing for.
  2. Perform Usability Testing: Conduct usability testing on various design elements to identify potential problems and areas for improvement. This should lead to enhanced usability and user satisfaction.
  3. Generate Actionable Insights: Translate user research into clear, actionable insights for the product, design, and development teams. This can inform decisions about product development and feature prioritization.
  4. Measure User Experience: Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure user experience over time. This can help monitor the impact of design changes and guide future improvements.
  5. Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with other teams (such as product management, design, and engineering) to ensure that user insights are effectively integrated into all stages of the product lifecycle. This should foster a user-centered culture within the organization.

Day to day

  1. Conduct User Research: Carry out a variety of research methodologies such as user interviews, surveys, usability testing, field research, and competitive analysis to understand user needs and behaviors. Present these insights in a clear and effective manner to different stakeholders, from product managers to engineers and designers.
  2. Conduct Experiments: Foster an experimental mindset by carrying out AB testing experiments to truly understand how users behave in a productive environment and convert those findings into action plans.
  3. Inform Product Decisions: Use research findings to inform and influence product decisions and strategy. This may include helping to determine feature prioritization, interface layout, and interaction patterns.
  4. Collaborate Across Teams: Collaborate closely with design, product, and engineering teams to ensure that the user's perspective is integrated throughout the product development process.
  5. Define and Measure UX Metrics: Define key UX metrics and work with data analysts or other relevant team members to track these metrics over time, making sure the user experience improves iteratively.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of user research experience, preferably in a lead role for a large product area
  • Working knowledge of general research principles (experimental design, bias, confounds, etc.) and UX research principles (usability testing, design thinking, etc.)
  • Provide confident team and patient guidance for stakeholders, including designers and project managers (PMs).
  • Ability to influence decision-making through clear communication of complex concepts.
  • Collaborative attitude and team mentality.
  • A learner’s mindset, sees feedback as a chance to grow.
  • Interest in finance.

Nice to have:

  • A degree or background in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience working with startups is also a plus.
