CIMMYT is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, and service-oriented professional for the position of Jr. Graphic Designer to to create and structure graphic products that are required in the different projects, events and activities in CIMMYT.
The position is based at CIMMYT’s campus in Texcoco, State of Mexico, located 45 km northeast of Mexico City, Mexico. Please note this is a strictly temporary temporary position (6 months).
Specific Duties:
- Integrate the contents and information to the layout of the EnlACe magazine, according to the indications of the editor in charge of each edition and the design coordinator of the Outreach unit.
- Support the design coordinator in the generation of graphic resources, image editing, adjustments to the editorial structure, layout and diagramming of the contents of each edition of the magazine.
- Design, coordinate and comply with the defined programming, define the schedule of activities for each edition and the follow-up of indicators for each process: relation of contents according to the work plan, formation of the editions, versions for readings and revision, digital versions for networks and CIMMYT repository.
- Perform the formation of the editions according to the schedules defined by the responsible editor and ensure that the revision processes are carried out within the defined times.
- Contribute to the systematization of editorial and graphic processes in the dissemination unit and propose editorial models to promote the functionality of the generated materials.
- Research and analyze design software and illustrations for assigned projects.
- Propose and design innovative graphics for CIMMYT intranet and internet pages. Participate in the design of the website and create images, animations and special effects for the website(s).
- Assist in program functions that may be assigned by your supervisors.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Graphich Design or equivalent work experience in a professional environment.
- 1 to 3 years of experience.
- Advanced knowledge of MAC- and Windows-based operating systems and specialized software such as Microsoft Office, Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash and Incopy are indispensable.
- Knowledge of CRM and ERP softwares.
- Facility to generate illustrations either digitally or traditionally.
- Excellent spelling or orthotypography skills.
- Experience in editorial design, video material generation and video editing experience are desirable.
- Fluency in reading and writing in English. English will be tested, and the candidate should score a minimum of B2 o CEFR.
