Job Description
Position Manager - Tool Design amp; Development Job Description : Position Summary : Seasoned design professional with key responsibility to improve engineering design integrity in both engineering documentation and design creation. This person will lead design integrity improvement by conducting design audits and peer checking of critical drawings on all functions associated with the engineering design process, including Design Intent, DWG format, compliance to specifications, design documentation completeness amp; accuracy, ASME Y14.5 standards (GDamp;T), internal standards, Tool fabrication, assembly, interface best practices, tolerance analysis, BOM verification, and Product Data attribute accuracy. From design review and audit results, this person will recommend and implement continuous improvement to design processes and standards as well as provide training on an ongoing basis. Specific Responsibilities: Designing amp; developing the injection molding Tool from inception to the customer approval. Provide design leadership and consultation to product designers to drive improvement in the integrity of the engineering design process. Maintain/Improve engineering processes pertaining to downstream manufacturing and customer documentation requirements Maintain expertise in CAD, ASME Y14.5 standards (GDamp;T), Product life cycle Management (PLM) design activities, fabrication methods and rich knowledge on ASME Y14 standard series as well as ISO GPS standards, Perform audit/checking functions on critical design changes per procedures and guidelines: Legacy conversion of drawings, Creating 3D solid, surface modeling, and preparing Detail drawings, Assembly of Components and Creating Bill of Materials. Involved in Product Design and Reverse Engineering. Product Relationships Check Product amp; Drawing Relationships
Requirements
Knowledge: Exposure to Implementation amp; maintenance of ISO 9000 amp; IATF 16949. Regarded as a technical expert in design documentation processes, including CAD, Tolerance Analysis and GDamp;T. Understanding of effective CAD modeling techniques and knowing when amp; how to use them (sketching, solids modeling, Assembly, Drawing, Surfacing, Mechanism Dynamics, Behavioral Modeling/Smart Models, Top Down Design). Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance, ISO amp; ASME standards . Stack up Analysis . Hands-on experience in UG NX, Auto CAD, and good knowledge of Pro-E Design for Six Sigma amp; DFMA (Design for Manufacture and Assembly) . Design optimization (CAD geometry, Design Best Practices). Materials and Selection. Plastics: Injection Molding process Qualifications: Degree / Diploma in Engg / PD-PMD from CIPET / NTTF with 10+ years of experience in automotive industry. Job Skills: Interpersonal Skills :Should be able to speak with employees, other department managers, and senior management Leadership Skills : Should Lead amp; motivate the workforce amp; imparting continuous on job training to the subordinates. Problem solving skill : Must be able to provide cost effective and durable solution to complex mold related problems.
