General description
The Electrician is responsible for ensuring that all electrical systems and related equipment are maintained, serviced and tested.
Responsibility
Specific tasks include, but are not limited to the below.
Perform other work as directed
Emergency responsibilities as per station bill.
Responsible for:
Carrying out inspections, repairs and maintenance of the electrical installation
and the electrical equipment
Ensuring that the explosion proof integrity of installations and equipment within
hazardous zones is maintained
The HV plant and power distribution system
Checking and calibrating gas detection equipment
Daily cleaning and housekeeping in workshops and other areas
Qualification requirements
Training as per Training Matrix
Minimum 5 year experience preferably including 3 year on offshore drilling rigs
Experienced in:
Drilling systems
Fire and gas and ESD systems
Variable speed control of AC motors
Testing and terminating fibre optic cables
Faultfinding, measuring, and testing of electronic and programmable equipment
Calibration of analogue and digital transmitters
BOP multiplexer systems
Conversant with rules and regulations for electrical equipment comprising:
Electrical safety explosion proof equipment
Current rating, short circuit protection and selectivity IP protection
Conversant with computerized maintenance systems
