About your role
As a Senior backend engineer for our Compra a pagos product which was designed to empower users with the ability to purchase essential household items and pay for them in manageable monthly installments over 3, 6, or 12 months, you will directly impact the reliability, security, and scalability of this product, ensuring its seamless performance by design, develop, test, and maintain highly scalable, high-performing, and robust backend systems and services to make possible transform the lives of our users by enabling them to acquire products that serve as productive asset that might otherwise be out of reach.
With your expertise and always keeping our clients' experience in mind, you will help us achieve our primary objective: The product is going to be very challenging in terms of performance, with the aim being to scale it up to three times more than what it is today.

Improve Conversion Rates:
- Your work in designing and optimizing the backend system architecture directly impacts the user experience. By ensuring system scalability and efficiency, you facilitate a smoother and faster transaction process, encouraging customers to complete their purchases.
Increase User Engagement:
- Developing robust and efficient APIs is crucial for server-client communication, enhancing user interaction with the product. This technical excellence plays a key role in user engagement and adoption.
Reduce First-Instalment Loss Rate:
- Deploying an innovative underwriting model that uses asynchronous extraction and loan form data is a critical backend task. Your work in this area is essential for assessing risk accurately and maintaining the quality of the loan portfolio.
Enhance Loan Recovery Rates:
- Your role in implementing and integrating this model into our systems is vital. It requires a deep understanding of both backend architecture and the specific needs of risk assessment and loan processing.
Optimize System Performance and Security:
- Maintain and update and secure the backend infrastructure to support the efficient operation of the product and safeguard user data.
Requirements
Day to Day
- Work closely with the frontend team, product managers, and designers to define feature specifications and build the next generation of our products.
- Participate in all phases of the development cycle concept, design, development, testing, and release.
- Optimize applications for maximum speed, scalability, and reliability.
- Ensure all systems are designed and coded for security, privacy, and adherence to SOLID principles.
- Proactively identify and resolve software inefficiencies and potential issues.
- Contribute to the entire software development lifecycle including design, development, documentation, testing, and operations.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Regularly review and refine our backend engineering practices, ensuring high-quality software construction in accordance with SOLID principles.
What you bring to the team
- 7+ years of experience in backend development.
- Deep understanding and practical experience in applying SOLID principles.
- Strong experience with data storage technologies such as MySQL and caching databases.
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
- Strong understanding of API design and RESTful principles.
- Excellent understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles
- Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies, Unit testing, Continuous Integration (CI), and Continuous Delivery (CD) practices.
- Great communication skills, and ability to explain how software is working to a non-technical audience.
