Job Description

Responsible for leading a cross functional team who’s objective is to increase Rackspace win probability on large complex pursuits by arming the sales engine with customer specific pursuit support while adding efficiency to the sales process. Responsible for adhering to company security policies and procedures and any other relevant policies and standards as directed.Responsibilities
  • Develops a knowledge library of repeatable responses, reduce response time, become proactive in searching out RFP opportunities and analyze all RFPs to create a profile of winnable opportunities.
  • Creates and maintains select proactive proposal templates that are in line with marketing and sales initiatives to drive demand in the market and with our prospects.
  • Analyzes the margins and profitability of deals based on the solution offered, and recommends optimal discounts and potential long-term pricing strategies to sales management and finance.
  • Ensures proper pricing has been used and required discount approvals are properly processed to maximize margins.
  • Provides deeper pricing analysis, insight for sales management on average margins and discounts, and predictive analytics on product mix that can be reported to product marketing and management for strategic planning purposes.
  • Manages the workflow process so that buyers receive proper quotes and the internal procurement organization can quickly process new orders.
  • Develops a success profile of won deals to use a framework for assessing and managing new opportunities.
  • Provides insight into market activity to through the controlled RFP process, determining how many opportunities are solution capability conversations or pure pricing negotiations, and an increase in the velocity of opportunities in the pipeline.
  • Utilizes influence and negotiation skills when collaborating with sales, legal, finance, product procurement, etc. through pursuit clinics and pursuit management.
  • Serves as internal support for structuring profitable, non-standard deals while protecting the value and timeline to final signature.
  • Understanding of the company’s current price list and pricing structure. Knowledge of operations, sales, marketing, and the services and activities of contract negotiations. Knowledge of complex principles and practices of negotiations, contracts, and proposals
Skills
  • Ability to contribute to the negotiation strategy. Ability to supervise, organize and review the work of support staff. Ability to interpret and explain Rackspace sales process and procedures. Ability to provide clear and concise reports. Ability to establish agreement among business owners and stakeholders. Ability to negotiate and oversee proposal process. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Advanced presentation skills, with the ability to express the most complex quantitative concepts to non-financial audiences.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including Authority officials and the general public.
  • Strong organization and analytical skills. Project management skills, with experience in sales and sales process/frameworks.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in business finance, or a related field is required.
  • Requires at least 5 years of experience in the IT hosting industry with a combination of sales, sales ops and/or strategic account management operations experience, including at least 3 years of experience in financial, pricing, economic, and/or business analysis. Experience leading a cross functional Deal Desk team is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of management experience is preferred.
  • Experience writing persuasive sales proposals is preferred
