Director of Sales Development

We are looking for a business development director with 3+ years outside sales management and produce industry experience to build, from the ground up, highly productive, metrics-driven outbound originations team to reach growers of fresh produce across MX. This new operation will be one of the biggest revenue and customer acquisition drivers for Produce Pay, and the Director of Business Development is tasked with leading this effort from the ground up.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a team of business development reps that can generate 60+ new preseason financing quotes+100 new in-season opportunities for AE's per year.
  • Hire and onboard business development reps in every major farming region in Mexico, whose primary function will be to originate new business and build brand awareness in their respective territory
  • Player/coach role to start. Hire will be expected to canvas, plan, actively prospect, cold call, take meetings, travel, and sell our finance offerings into territories while the team is still being built out
  • Develop referral partners and other channel partners including local banks, service providers, grower associations, and ag inputs companies
  • Build long-term relationships with prospects and clients through a consultative, expertise-driven sales process
  • Rapidly grow market share in territories by working assigned accounts+prospecting for new accounts from cold calling all the way to quoting
  • Manage your BDR territories through data, leveraging CRM and sales operations to supercharge sales efforts
  • Travel often as needed
  • Hire will report to VP of Sales

Requirements

  • Business and language fluency in both English and Spanish is required
  • Extensive produce industry background is required. Candidate must have strong existing personal relationships with growers and partners to growers (e.g. ag input providers)
  • Firsthand experience working with farmers and growers is strongly preferred, e.g. grew up on a farm or worked with grower accounts as an agricultural company.
  • 4+ years sales management experience
  • Past experience managing 3+ month sales cycles, end to end
  • Proven capability to reach decision-makers and close them
  • Detail oriented and able to learn a complex financing product
