This role

PayJoy is hiring a Senior Accountant to join our fast-paced, exciting, and talented team. As our first internal accounting hire focused on PayJoy Ecuador operations, you will have the opportunity to help build and stream-line our internal accounting function with a primary focus on Accounts Payable. You will report to the Director of Accounting in Finance in San Francisco and partner with senior management members in our Mexico and Ecuador offices to improve and automate our accounting processes. You have a demonstrated track record of experience in accounting, possess outstanding communication skills, and share our mission to expand access to finance to the next billion consumers worldwide.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Operations team to implement new NetSuite automations and best-practices in the Merchant AP process.
  • Manage vendor information and input new vendors in NetSuite.
  • Communicate with merchants to resolve issues fulfilling purchase orders in NetSuite.
  • Prepare batches for payment in NetSuite, and partner with the financial analyst to estimate weekly cash flows.
  • Maintain the merchant AP and AR ledgers in NetSuite and resolve overdue receivables and payables.
  • Manage the inter-bank transfer process to comply with our debt agreements.
  • Reconcile processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to month-end balances.
  • Help build out a process to reconcile and report on cash balances weekly.
  • Partner with the external accounting team on month-end close by managing information requests and resolving outstanding issues.
  • Reconcile and book complex or non-standard transactions in NetSuite.
  • Manage tax compliance checklists and SRI audit requests.
  • Manage local bank accounts to handle all merchant credits and debits, as well as operating expenses.
  • Manage relationships with external accounting firms in Ecuador while tracking important reporting dates (ie. Year End Close Tax Reporting).

Minimum requirements:

  • 3-4 years of experience in public accounting or in a role managing a high-volume of AP transactions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Accounting
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (v-lookup, pivot tables, etc.).
  • Superb attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish

Desirable qualities:

  • Prior experience working with NetSuite.
  • Prior experience with SQL.
  • Experience with IFRS 16 - Leases and IFRS 9 - Financial Instruments.
  • Knowledge of Ecuadorian accounting rules and regulations.
